Civil society organizations contribute a lot to social development in Africa, particularly in reaching the most vulnerable populations. We believe that for these organizations to make real changes in people’s lives, they have to be professional, sensitive and skilled in not only delivering interventions but also contributing to building strong, sustainable and credible institutions.
DLC can competently offer support in various aspects of organisational development including organisational capacity assessment (OCA), process facilitation, development and or review of internal policies, systems and procedures as well as training, coaching and mentoring of staff members. Our varied support to organisations has focused on resource mobilisation; financial management; human resource planning and development; personnel recruitment and selection; management skills improvement; gender and HIV/AIDS mainstreaming; Organisational redesign and organisational leadership and governance.
We have strengthened the competencies (knowledge, skills and attitudes) of staff working with development organisations to design, implement, monitor and evaluate interventions aimed at improving the lives of the people they serve. This has covered areas such as child rights programming, child protection, advocacy, participatory planning and budgeting, advocacy, social accountability approaches and project/programme design, monitoring and evaluation.
