DLC supports government and non-government actors to develop and or review legislation and policies that impact on vulnerable groups. In Uganda, our most notable contribution is the provision of technical support to the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development and UNICEF-Uganda to map and assess the child protection systems in Uganda.
With our team members’ long standing experience in child protection work, DLC supports organizations to enlist participation of the most vulnerable, particularly children (with disabilities, affected by war, survivors of exploitation and abuse in all its forms) in influencing legislation and social policy development processes.
We strive to ensure that our research products are sound enough to contribute to policy decisions that make life better, especially for the vulnerable groups. We employ best practice research methodologies to assess the social context /social problem for which legislation/policy development or review is being undertaken. Our range of professional services in this area includes:
- Situation assessment at national and local levels
- Organizing national think tanks
- Conducting consultations using thematic groups
- Desk reviews
