Deogratias Yiga is the team leader at Development Links Consult Ltd. He is responsible for the overall strategic direction and policy and standard setting that guides the firm’s operations. For the last 19 years, Deogratias has been a development  practitioner in the social development sector in Uganda and Africa wide, implementing programs in the child rights sector for national and international reputable organisations in the civil and government sectors.

He is the former Executive Director of the African Network for Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) Uganda Chapter, an organisation that is part of an Africa -wide network that works to prevent violence against children and organises programs to prevent and redress violence and child abuse. During his practice, he was able to contribute to policy formulation and review (Children Act and Employment Act and National OVC Policy). 

As a Development Management Consultant, Deogratias has consulted on a number of thematic areas in Child protection including: including, Child Protection systems, birth registration, Adoption and legal guardianship, Birth registration, Child headed households, Children with Disabilities, Violence against children, street children among others.  

He has provided technical support to local and international organisations  including, African Child Policy Forum, Oak Foundation, Wellspring Advisors, Terres Des Hommes, ChildHope UK, Retrak UK, World Vision Uganda, Plan Uganda,  Kindernothilfe,  Uganda Reproductive Health Bureau, KCWA and Uganda Child Rights NGO Network among others.

Deogratias continues to undertake Capacity building and technical support consultancies to strengthen capacities of social sector organisations to deliver effective programs to their target groups including: undertaking organisational capacity assessments and Development, Strategic planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, development of child protection policies. Deogratias holds Masters degrees in Development Management from the Open University UK and MA Social Sector Planning and Management of Makerere University. He also acquired a Post Graduate Diploma in Child Rights Youth and Development, in addition to the Specialised training in NGO Management and Executive Leadership undertaken with DANIDA fellowship Centre in Copenhagen.
